This is book 1 in the Agents series by Brynne Asher and this is my first time reading her work.
And I’m not gonna lie…
I had a good time.
Like—this was chaotic, dramatic, slightly unhinged fun done RIGHT.

And in order to “save” Landyn from being passed around the cartel like a group project…

But I was entertained.

Let’s talk about HER.
Because she carried.
This is a 23-year-old woman who has been:
– kidnapped (twice!)
– sold by her own father
– thrown into cartel politics
And she STILL:
– stands up for herself
– challenges people
– keeps her identity intact
She is:
– strong
– smart
– self-aware
– afraid (as she should be)
And STILL moves with backbone.
I loved her.
Refreshing.

This man got aliases like a witness protection program.
29 years old
DEA agent
2 years deep undercover
And what I appreciated most?
The restraint.
This man REFUSES to sleep with her while she doesn’t know who he really is.
And in a situation like THIS?
That matters.
A lot.
He’s conflicted.
Disciplined.
Morally gray—but still grounded.
I liked him.

Honestly?
Not much.
The only thing I’ll say is:
There are A LOT of moving parts.
– CIA
– DEA
– cartel family
– extended family
BUT—
The author actually manages it well.
So while it could’ve been overwhelming…
It wasn’t.

For a first book from this author?
I’m impressed.
